B.Tech. (AICTE Approved) 1st Year Admission under Rural & Sikh-Minority Quota 2026-27

General guidelines for admission in 1st year B.Tech. under Rural Quota(Non-Sikh & Sikh-Minority candidates of Punjab) and Urban Quota (only Sikh-Minority candidates of Punjab and other states) for the session 2026-27:

  1. Following is the Eligibility Criterion:

    1. Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from any Board recognized or established by Central/State Government through a legislation and member of Council of School Education (COBSE).
    2. Apart from the basic eligibility, a rural candidate needs to submit  “Rural Area Certificate” (issued by Tehsildar/SDM/Distt. Admin Officer) as well as “Rural Education Certificate” (5 years study issued by school Headmaster/Principal as per the format).
    3. To claim seat under Sikh-Minority Quota, a candidate must have qualified Sikh Religion Exam(SRE)-2026.
  2. Schedule for the admission process is as under:

  3. Admission will be based on Inter-Se-Merit(10+2) of qualifying examination:

    1. For Matriculation marks, the obtained and maximum scores will be considered on the total for all subjects, excluding Additional Subjects.
    2. For 10+2, the marks of five subjects will be considered with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any other best two subjects with the highest percentages.
    3. In case of a tie in 10+2 marks, Matriculation marks (as per ‘a’) will be considered, and if still tie exists, the candidate`s date of birth will be used for tie break (preference will be given to the older candidate in age).
  4. Candidates must follow the steps given below:

    Pay non-refundable one-time processing fee of Rs. 1450 (includes Rs. 250 user creation charges + Rs. 1200 other processing charges) and a candidate can participate in any number of counselling rounds for B.Tech.(1st year) program.

    • Candidate must complete and submit the Admission Form to generate a file number. If the form is not completely submitted in all aspects, it will not be considered for the counselling process. Candidates must ensure that their application shows a file number after complete submission—without it, the candidature cannot be considered for admission process.

    • The institute will verify the admission form credentials submitted by the candidate and may update the information provided based on various admission parameters (Seat Type, Rural/Urban,Category, Gender, Date of Birth, 10th obtained marks, 10th maximum marks, Senior Secondary examination details subject-wise). Candidates are advised to review their details once the status shows “Verify Admission Parameters” in their login at https://admission.gndec.ac.in.

    Report in College Auditorium as per the schedule with applicable original documents and full fee.

    • Documents Required: 10th and 10+2 DMCs, Residence Certificate, Aadhaar Card and photographs (Candidate-2, Mother-1, Father-1), Relevant Documents related to applied in Rural quota and Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) and One set of self-attested photocopies of all the above-mentioned applicable documents.
    • If original DMC of 10+2 is not available, then the candidate must bring DigiLocker verified DMC bearing QR Code.
    • The candidate must bring full fee at the time of counselling, otherwise allotment of seat shall stand cancelled and will be offered to the next candidate. No Claims will be entertained afterwards in this regard.
    • All modes of Fee payment are acceptable except cheque.
    4Rank will be displayed before the start of counselling.
  5. Candidates must ensure that they have verified their admission parameters on the admission portal i.e. https://admission.gndec.ac.in; once institute has processed their submission. The option "Verify Admission Parameters" will be available on the left-hand menu.

    • On clicking this option, candidate will be taken to a page where he/she must carefully review data from Serial No. 1 to 12.
    • If all details are correct, check the confirmation box at the bottom and click the green “Verify and Submit” button to proceed.
    • If candidate notices any discrepancies, do not click the “Verify and Submit”  button, instead, raise a query immediately through the portal. To raise a query, click the red "Click Here To Raise Query" button.
    • Candidate must read all instructions carefully before taking any action.
    • Candidates are advised to check the “Messages” tab and "Important Notices" tab in the left-hand menu daily.

    In case of any discrepancy in admission parameters (Sr. No. 1 to 12), if the query is not submitted online before 8:00AM on day of counselling, otherwise it may be raised in person at the front desk in the College Auditorium, before the start of counselling, between 09:00AM and 09:30AM. No queries regarding discrepancies will be entertained after the notified timings. 

  6. Important: Submission of the Admission Form is mandatory. A file number will be generated only after the form is successfully submitted. Incomplete submissions will not be considered for the counselling or admission process. Candidates must ensure that a file number has been assigned to their application within the notified schedule.
  7. Only one round of counselling based on Rural & Sikh-Minority quota (with reservations) will be held and remaining vacant seats (if any) will be transferred to IKGPTU (affiliating university) under Urban quota without any reservation i.e General category in Punjab 85% & similarly the remaining vacant seats of 15% Sikh-Minority other state quota will be transferred to 15% Non-Sikh Quota under General category and no waiting list will be prepared. Seats falling vacant in one category will not be transferred to any other category during this counselling.
  8. Candidate admitted through stated round of counselling will have to pay one-time Rs. 2000/- (non-refundable) as university counselling fee.
  9. Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for eligible candidates during counselling is available only for Punjab resident and eligible candidates will be admitted only after they pay requisite fee.
  10. Registered candidates are advised to reach out to their assigned Admission Mentors for any queries related to admission and also maintain regular communication with them.
  11. Candidates must remember their admission portal login credentials and decide in advance whether they wish to avail hostel facility.
  12. Candidates are also advised to frequently login their admission portal at  admission.gndec.ac.in and check their “Messages“ section.
  13. During the verification process of Application Form (i.e. candidate’s application with File number); candidate may receive “Messages“, which is visible in their login at admission portal.
  14. Candidates can use the “Ask Query” feature on their admission portal login, which offers three options. Choose the appropriate option based on your need:

    • General – for questions about eligibility, fee structure etc.
    • Request for Update in Submitted Data – for issues related to uploading documents, change category, marks update etc.
    • PMS Scheme for SC Eligible Students – Concerns specific to the Post Matric Scholarship scheme for SC eligible students.

  16. Candidates will be called on the basis of merit (overall rank), seat will be allotted in the below mentioned seat allotment sequence (as per mentioned order) based on the candidate credentials:

  1. *SM (Sikh-Minority) Status – To avail the benefit of this status, Sikh Candidates have to qualify SRE(Sikh Religion Examination)-2026 conducted by GNDEC, Ludhiana Punjab to be eligible for this quota.
  2. **NSM (Non-Sikh)- All candidates who are not considered in SM (Sikh-Minority) as per ‘a’
  3. *** To avail the benefit of rural status, a candidate must have completed 5 years of study (either have passed 5th / 8th / 10th or 10+2) in school located in rural areas of Punjab and have Punjab Rural Area Certificate issued by Govt.
